Course Description
Creative Thinking and Problem-Solving through Storytelling
Practical Strategies for Self-Awareness, Adaptability and Independent Learning
What helps us start a demanding task and find another way forward? Through creating and transforming short stories, teachers explore how they organise ideas, manage attention and respond to difficulty. Activities include opposite stories, mosaic narratives, journeys through time and characters in unfamiliar settings. Selected AI activities develop a teaching intention into a scenario for critical reading, revision and independent writing. Participants exchange experiences and consider how to support learners without taking over their work. They leave with original stories and an activity adapted for their own classroom.

Learning objectives and outcomes
- Organise ideas and explain how narrative sequence affects understanding.
- Use reversal and unfamiliar situations to explore alternative solutions.
- Recognise personal approaches to planning, attention and difficulty.
- Choose manageable steps and support that encourage learner independence.
- Critically assess and independently revise AI-generated scenarios or stories.
- Adapt a storytelling activity and plan how to evaluate its classroom use.
Target Group
Teachers across subjects, school librarians and teacher educators wishing to extend their creative practice. No advance reading or previous course attendance is required.
Methodology and assessment
-
Teachers experience tasks as learners before reflecting on their own process and considering classroom use. Individual writing, paired comparison and group discussion connect practical work with teaching experience. Trainer and peer feedback support revision; participants select examples for their final presentation.
